What do you do with all the stuff?

One of the questions that has been exercising my mind recently concerns the disposal of Mother’s things… I don’t mean her clothing, jewellery, personal effects… most of that has already gone to various charity shops where it will do someone some good. Nor am I thinking about furniture because the same applies; it has either gone to charity shops or organisations who can make use of it. No, the problem items are things like china and glassware.
Mum had quite a lot of cut glass and lead crystal, some of which has been distributed around the family, which is great. But what to do with the rest? I’d assumed we’d be able to donate these things to charity shops too, but it seems not… too old… not of any interest to our customers… too heavy… too bulky…
I’m really at a loss ![]()
It’s stuff like this dinner service that has me puzzled; it’s far too good to just chuck in a skip, yet no-one seems to want it…
I really wish I knew what to do… I suppose I’m being sentimental in not wanting to bin things, but it seems such a terrible waste to me somehow. Anyone got any ideas?
Answers on a postcard please… ![]()
