I despair at times, I really do

9 August, 2011 in Places, Politics

I woke from my sleep this morning to a mental image of a calm, restful, world where people made the effort to help others and to mutually enjoy their short existence on this wonderful planet of ours…

The View From My Balcony

The View From My Balcony - a near idyllic life

Feeling inspired I toddled off to the gym for my morning workout to be greeted by scenes of last night’s violence in London, Birmingham and Bristol on the TV screens; to say my mood was shattered may be a bit of an exaggeration, but I’m sure you’ll understand that my feeling of contentment simply evaporated. I’ve no intention of getting into the politics of the current riots, suffice it to say the troubles in London and copycat violence and looting in other cities sickens me to the core. I feel like going back to bed and starting the day afresh in the forlorn hope I will wake to find it was all a bad dream.

Memories of a grand day out

25 July, 2011 in Places

I’ve just been updating my gallery of images from UK towns and cities with pictures I took during the Panasonic Event at the Dali Gallery on London’s South Bank. Part of the event was a run down the Thames in a rib-boat with the opportunity to take pictures from the river… great fun, believe me, especially when the two rib-boats hired decided to race up-river to Tower Bridge!

For those interested the other images I’ve posted this evening are available in my London Gallery. :-)

Brooding London

29 May, 2011 in Photoshop, Places

Come to the Big City they said, the city that never sleeps, the city of dreams where anything and everything is possible. Visit London for a truly unforgettable experience…

Well who was I to refuse? After all everyone has dreams, right? So I went and when I got there, what did I find?

Were the streets paved with gold?
No.

Did all my dreams come true?
No.

Did London truly sparkle?
What do you think?

Tower Bridge

London: dark, brooding and really not very friendly

Yeah okay there’s a touch of image manipulation going on here, but I really did find the Big City to be a dark and brooding place. Not somewhere I’d like to live at all.

Oh no, not again!

26 May, 2011 in People, Photoshop, Places

Do you ever have one of those days when you get a song you particularly dislike stuck in your head and can’t shift it? It’s even worse of course of it happens to be a song you particularly dislike by and artiste you loathe with a passion… and that’s what’s happened to me today: Avenues And Alleyways by Tony Christie just keeps on going round and round in my brain-cage and simply won’t leave me alone!
Disapproval

In an effort to dislodge said tune (I refuse to think of this nonsense as a real song!) I have been playing with Photoshop and removing accumulated junk from an image of Nell Gwynne Alley (not its real name) and hereby provide you with ‘before’ and ‘after’ views of my handiwork… if only it was as easy to free my head from the continuing crap that helped make Mr Christie famous
