Where world’s collide

Usky the Tourist

The recent news stories concerning the continued unrest in Egypt fill me with sadness. Just thirteen months ago I was enjoying immersing myself in that country’s most amazing history and culture. The people I met during my visit and the friendships I made gave me but a small insight into the people’s troubles and concerns over the corruption of then leader Hosni Mubarak; the misconception being that all would be well if Mubarak’s regime could be toppled. Hosni Mubarak fell from power in February and the parliamentary elections that began in November were heralded as the next vital stage in the country’s post-revolutionary history, how sad then that members of the security services can still be found on the streets meeting out their own particular form of justice against peaceful protesters?

I have no answer to the situation in Egypt, I just hope it can be resolved quickly and cleanly with the minimum discomfort to the population at large; justice and opportunity in equal measure for all.

My lasting memory of Egypt is of a land where ancient and modern not only meet at the crossroads of life, but co-exist in a way I have not experienced elsewhere. Of a people who endure hardship, but embrace hope. Also of a land where bribery and corruption are rife… but no more rife than here in the UK perhaps, just more open.

The long and um, rather straight road

Karnak to Thebes

Ceremonial roadway between
Karnak & Thebes

We tend to think of the Romans as builders of long straight roads, to get their legions from one place to another in the fastest possible time of course, but in truth the Egyptians were pretty good at it too. This ceremonial roadway for instance linked the temples of Karnak and Thebes; the entrance to Thebes can just be seen between the trees in the background. While not hugely long (around 3.5Km from memory) this roadway, currently being excavated, was pretty damn wide and perfectly straight and flat; modern road builders take note, the ancients could do so why can’t you?

The road is lined with literally hundreds of small sphinxes depicting Amun, Egyptian sun god and master of the universe. A masterpiece of engineering and design.

Alien entities caught on camera

UFOs caught on camera

Caught on Camera, UFOs at Karnak

The truth is out there, to coin a phrase, and here’s the proof. Neither little green man nor great slavering beast with a blood lust, but hundreds and thousands of miniature space craft whirling around the sacred pillars of ancient Thebes in the darkness of mid-evening.

Oh ye of little faith, just open your eyes for there is none so blind as he who will not see. Aliens are all around us… UFOs are everywhere.

Where are Mulder and Scully when you need them? Not here, that’s for sure. They’re probably off somewhere in the remotest North American forest chasing Bigfoot when this is where they should really be corroborating the reality of alien life here on Earth…

Clicking the pictures will deliver larger versions – but you’ll still have to believe in fairies to see the alien spacecraft.
